Little Sahara x2

We made the drive up to Little Sahara State Park in Waynoka, OK for the second time this year. We headed up there two weekends ago to meet Justin's parents for some fun in the sand again. Austin, once again, took his 4-wheeler & had a blast on it. He's getting SO GOOD on it -- such a little Justin on that thing!

His new favorite thing was riding with PawPaw or Dad on the back of their 4-wheelers. Especially when they'd do fun things like this -- PawPaw driving 'round & 'round in a circle!

Justin's Mom, Kaylee & I followed the guys around in their Rhino and had a good time as well. It was HOT! On the Saturday we were there, it was 103 degrees around noon, so we opted to go into the camper instead of stay outside in the sweltering sand dunes!

The first night we were there, we went out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant in Waynoka; the restaurant is in the old train depot & is a really cool building! Their thermometer outside showed it was at 100 degrees -- granted, it was around 5:30 when we went to eat... TOO HOT!!

The kids' favorite thing about Waynoka is the multitude of trains that come through that town. We happened to be finishing dinner right when a train was about to come by, so the kids got on Dad's & PawPaw's shoulders & waited for the train! (Every single train that went by for the entire time we were there, Kaylee would yell, "CHOO-CHOO!" and start jumping up & down. Granted, there were about 2-3 trains per hour, so she was BUSY cheering for the trains!)

On the second day, we all drove all the way across the sand dunes/park to find the hugest grove of mulberry bushes any of us had ever seen! It was totally amazing, so we took a 30 minute break from riding, camped out under the trees & picked mulberries & ate them until we were full...

Kaylee wasn't fond of them... especially when she realized they stained her finger!!

It was a fun trip. It was a HOT trip too. We spent both afternoons from about 12 noon until around 6pm in the camper with the air conditioner blowing a full speed. It was HOT... but that camper is really what camping is about! :)
