Yum, Yum, Yum!

Justin was off work yesterday & we had a little surprise up our sleeves for the kiddos.

All week long, I had been giving Austin hints before bed as to where our Friday Fun-Day Trip was going to be.  Some of the hints?  "It'll be tasty"... "Cows help to make it"... "We'll have to take a car trip to get there"...
Austin couldn't imagine what it was.

Well... we drove the 90 minutes to Brenham, Texas yesterday to the Blue Bell Ice Cream Creamery!  And, YUM-O, it was DELICIOUS!
Blue Bell ice cream started being made right there in Brenham, Texas back in 1911.  And, they've kept it local ever since.  Another reason we LOVE Blue Bell!

I snapped this sweet picture of Justin & Kaylee on the way to buy our tickets.  K just LOVES her Daddy... and she especially loves doing things with him!!

We got there around noon & bought tickets for the 2pm tour... then headed to the local airport (small air strip) to have lunch at their restaurant & watch the planes taking off just over where we were eating.  It was super cool!
Back at the creamery, the kids put on their hats & were ready for the tour!

The tour was quick, but really cool.  We were astounded to hear that Blue Bell uses milk from over 50,000 cows DAILY to make the ice cream that they produce on a daily basis.  WOW!  They had shortened the tour since it was summertime & they were trying to herd over a thousand people through there each day.  (We plan on going back in "off-season" to go for the "full tour".)

No cameras were allowed during the tour, but once the tour was over, we got to go to their Ice Cream Parlour & have a free scoop of whichever flavor we wanted.

Kaylee (of course) picked Homemade Vanilla -- their top-seller & the only flavor they make every single day.
Austin wanted to try something "fun", so he chose Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (his new favorite, so he says).
I chose a new flavor they just started making -- Dessert Trio.  It was delish!  Brownie pieces, vanilla & chocolate swirl ice cream & other yummy bits of goodness...
Justin chose Mocha Almond Fudge, which wasn't what he was expecting.  (VERY coffee-flavored), so he enjoyed a few bites of my Dessert Trio!

If anyone is in the Brenham area, I highly suggest going to visit Blue Bell!
DE-LISH-OUS!

Isn't that near Waco? Flint used to go somewhere to get huge tubs of Blue Bell for Athletic Department events. That is sooooo fun! I want to do that sometime. Maybe we can do it together during off season....I miss living so close to you and our trips to meet up with each other!
